{"id":134004,"date":"2020-05-05T14:33:32","date_gmt":"2020-05-05T12:33:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lasvermudas.con2webs.es\/zecchini-el-autentico-vermut-de-siempre-ha-vuelto-para-quedarse"},"modified":"2026-07-16T20:24:47","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T20:24:47","slug":"zecchini-the-authentic-vermouth-of-always-has-returned-to-stay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lasvermudas.com\/en\/2020\/05\/05\/zecchini-the-authentic-vermouth-of-always-has-returned-to-stay\/","title":{"rendered":"ZECCHINI: THE AUTHENTIC VERMOUTH OF ALWAYS HAS RETURNED TO STAY"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 50px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Appreciating the value of traditions, of \u201clifelong\u201d local products, of the exclusive, was common in a time that will never return\u2026 or maybe it will.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Disguised under the new anglicism of \u201ccraft\u201d or better translated as \u201cartisanal\u201d, \u201cthe usual\u201d is back in fashion in vermouths, as\u00a0<strong>Jorge Cuesta, producer of Zecchini vermouth madrile\u00f1o<\/strong>, tells us in our interview at\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jQmO0y2Yzvk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vermupedia<\/a><\/strong>. The authentic vermouth of always \u201cis already here\u201d, in his words, \u201cand it has come back to stay\u201d.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jorge Cuesta tells us about vermouth with that typical wisdom of men who have dedicated a life to the search for authentic flavors, men of yesteryear, simple and cheerful, humble but determined. Characteristics that we also find in his vermouth.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If now vermouth is at its peak, Zecchini vermouth never ceased to be, its formula being the same as that which grandfather Pedro first made in 1940 in his small tavern,\u00a0<strong>Bodegas Cuesta<\/strong>, in the Lavapi\u00e9s neighborhood in Madrid.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In those convulsive years, Jorge tells us, nothing was certain, not even the very name of that artisan vermouth, provisionally called A.S. and then Italianized in the \u201970s in \u201cZecchini\u201d as a tribute to the company\u2019s winemaker and the great fame of Italian vermouths. In those years, Zecchini was the best-selling vermouth in Madrid bars.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image size-full wp-image-90875\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-90875\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvermudas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Screenshot-2020-05-05-16.24.06.png\" alt=\"\" \/>\r\n<figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Zecchini was a pioneer in Spain in the production and aging of Vermouths. At the beginning of the last century, Vermouth was a novelty in Madrid that had just arrived from Italy.<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today it is the most typical vermouth, Jorge assures us, made with a mixture of Air\u00e9n and Malvar grapes, native grapes from the Madrid area. Although hermeticism is maximum regarding botanicals, Jorge reveals to us how a secret mixture of up to thirty botanicals, rigorously natural, makes Zecchini vermouth an authentic product.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jorge advises us to drink the vermouth with ice, cold and in a wide glass, where a good slice of orange can fit for the red version or a wedge of lime for the white version. A symphony of flavors and aromas guided by the solid traditional structure of the base wine of this vermouth. According to him, the vermouth is complete like this, without soda.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cVermouth is a tribute to life\u201d in the words of Jorge, \u201cfor this reason we have created editions with different labels dedicated to the history of Madrid\u201d, the bottle changes but the vermouth remains the same, with its \u201ctraditional formula\u201d , unchanged for more than 80 years.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jorge Cuesta is a producer who has managed to capture in his vermouth all the experience of his life, entirely dedicated to the search for the typical authentic vermouth.
